The Molsbroek Visitors’ Centre in Lokeren is the starting point for anyone wishing to explore the Groot Molsbroek nature reserve. Before, during, or after a walk, visitors can discover fascinating insights into the region’s natural environment, both indoors and outdoors, and relax with a drink while enjoying views of the marshland.
However, the entire site is in need of renovation. The insect garden, terrace, and play forest surrounding the visitors’ centre form part of a broader redevelopment planned for the coming years. The aim is to transform this garden area into a miniature nature reserve where visitors can experience nature up close and be inspired to create more nature-friendly gardens of their own.
Using natural materials, native plants, and engaging spaces for exploration and play, the site will once again become a green, inspiring, and welcoming meeting place for local residents and nature enthusiasts alike.
The project launched a crowdfunding campaign between October and November 2021. The campaign was successful, raising € 10,150 from 107 contributors. The VGP Foundation provided additional support to help bring the project alive.
