Katra River Valley and Surroundings of the Cepkeliai Strict Nature Reserve

The Katra River valley is one of Lithuania's most valuable wetland landscapes, yet decades of abandonment have left much of this unique habitat overgrown and degraded. This project will restore open wetlands and create new nesting opportunities for the endangered Great Grey Owl, helping to protect biodiversity and secure a future for some of the region's rarest wildlife.

The Katra River Valley is a unique biodiversity hotspot in Lithuania, home to rare bird species, orchids, and valuable wetland habitats. This project supports nature conservation and ecotourism through the development of a nature observation tower and educational trail, helping more people discover and appreciate this exceptional landscape.
